"Right
out of the box and with the first few notes and no extended
hours of room positioning I have been impressed with greatness."
I have been an audiophile since 1968 (38 years).
During that time I have owned 26 pairs of loudspeakers, here
are but a few: Ohm F's, Avalon Ascent MkII's, Koss Model One
Electrostatics, Carver Amazing Loudspeaker(original with gold
ribbon), AR LST's(Acoustic Research), Magneplanar Tympani IIIA's,
"4" Advent Loudspeakers(original Advents), "4" Bose 901 Series VI, other brands
include Canton, Definitive Technology (18" powered sub), Velodyne 18"
powered sub, plus 17 other highly regarded speaker systems.
The first five loudspeakers on this list are my
personal favorites of all time. I will now have to add the BP7000sc's
to this list, there are now six on that list. Right out of the
box and with the first few notes and no extended hours of room
positioning I have been impressed with greatness. I am convinced
you have created a classic, thank you for designing such a wonderful
product!!!
Before deciding to go with Definitive Technology,
I tried ALL major brands for approx two years. I listened to
all types of music and movies. I was looking (or listening) for
a sound that would fill the entire room, not just the immediate
listening area. My listening room has a 23 foot vaulted ceiling
and is difficult to fill. Believe me, this speaker system does
the job.
I have the SuperCube Reference subwoofer, the BP7001sc front
speakers, a C/L/R 3000 center speaker, the BPXs for rear surrounds,
and the ProMonitor 100s as side surrounds. This system really
does shake the entire house. Ye ha !!. I'll never go to a local
theater again.
I just bought a set of 7000SCs,
a CLR3000 and 2 BPVXs. WOW I can't even belief these things.
It has took me a process of four and a half years to buy
my speakers. I have looked at everything on the market
in the price from $2000 to $30,000 a set. Even at $30,000
these Def Techs would be worth it. You guys have done your
home work. With just my Denon 3806 AVR pushing this set
the sound is unreal. Then I hooked up my Parasound at 250
watts a channel and I can say for sure that here in the
foot hills where I live the hills are alive with the sound
of music and movies. Anyone who is looking for music or
movie speaker should stop and take a real hard look Definitives,
then go no further and buy right then! Music is awesome,
home theater is moving, the lows are clean and low, the
mids and highs are unreal with clarity. Once again all
I can say is THANK YOU!!!
I have loved my BP6s for the
several years I have had them but was blown away when I
compared the sound from some of my favorite CDs when using
the BP7002 SuperTowers at the store. I bought a pair of
the BP7002's and am absolutely delighted at the wonderful
improvement to both CDs and to my home theater. My wife
(who usually frowns at my A/V purchases) absolutely loves
them as well. Even some of my audiophile friends (who only
buy speakers starting at $5,000 a pair) have conceded that
these DF speakers rock. Great deal!
For the last 2 years
I’ve been enjoying my home theater setup which included
the Mythos Twos for the front channels, Mythos Four for
the center channel duty and Mythos Fives for the surrounds.
A Pro100+TL subwoofer provided the rumble to round out
the system. I just recently upgraded to the BP7006s
for the front with C/L/R 2500 for the center along with
a SuperCube III. All I can say is wow, what a day in night
difference in sound! Everything sounds great watching movies
in the new Dolby True HD and DTS Master HD formats. The
bass output in the BP7006 is very impressive for its slender
size! Combined with the C/L/R 2500, the bass effects sound
like they are coming behind the T.V, just unbelievable
imaging! I plan on upgrading the surrounds with the BPXs
to complete the setup. Thanks Definitive for the best home
theater speakers on the market!!
[I]
decided to buy BP7000SC on reading reviews, none [were]
available to listen to, [I've] never done this before.
Hooked them up to my pre amp and Krell fpb350 monoblocks.
Wife and I are happy. So I ordered a set of 7004, 2300
and surrounds (don't recall number), hooked them to Rotel
1066 and 1095 amps, happy again. Love the things. By the
way I'm 63 and it's taken a long time to be this impressed
with sound.
I owned an NHT speaker system
(5 NHT SuperZero + 1 SW2P Subwoofer) for the last 10
years. It was my first step into the audiophile world,
and I thought they sounded great — that is until I listened
to my new Definitive Technology system which consists
of the BP7000SC (L/R) and SM450 (C/SL/SR).
Wow! What an awesome HT system the Def Techs are!
My A/V system consists of the Acurus 200X3 (3), Acurus RL-11 (3),
Mitsubishi WD62627, Toshiba HD-XA1, and Panasonic DMP-BD10. I'm feeding
the HD DVD & Blu-ray directly from the players to my pre-amplifier via
the analog output----no processor in between.
The BP7000SCs are beyond words.
I never knew what "tight bass" was until now.
I never knew what "sweet highs" were until now.
I never knew what "great sound" was until I heard it from the BP7000SC!
I listen to Pop/Rock/Alternative (Eagles, Cars, Foo Fighters, etc.) and
Classical music (Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven, etc.).
Great sound is great sound no matter what type of music.
For the longest time, I shifted from music to movies. Now, with the help
of Def Tech, I am both a music and movie lover!
I purchased my Definitives in
February of 2005. At the heart of the system are the BP7000SCs,
complemented by the CLR3000, 4 BPVX's, and the ProSub 200TL.
For equipment I have a McIntosh MC352 2 channel amp, a
Anthem MCA 5 channel surround amp, a Anthem AVM 30 processor,
a Musical Fidelity A308 CD player, and a Denon DVD3910
DVD player. After 2 plus years of listening my system sounds
better than it did out of the box. When either critically
listening in stereo or watching a movie the system is simply
breathtaking. The soundstage can be compared to the Wilsons
at a fraction of the price. The weak link is the ProSub
200TL. After speaking with Chet today I will be upgrading
to the SuperCube Reference to compliment the BP7000SC's.
I am still very excited and enthusiastic about my system.
I would purchase it again in a heartbeat!!!
“In my
39 years as an audiophile I can not remember
a loudspeaker so competent in every area of
performance...”
I have written to Definitive before, about
a year ago soon after purchasing my new BP7000SCs and
it seems that I can't hold back spreading the word about Definitive! I
had mentioned a year ago that the BP7000SC was one of my top six favorite
transducers of all time; I will now have to modify that list to include
only a list of "ONE", the BP7000SC!! In my 39 years as an audiophile
I can not remember a loudspeaker so competent in every area of performance
particularly germane to the critical listener.
The BP7000SC will deliver what is needed when it is needed and in great quantity when great quantity is called for. I have been impressed by the sound quality of many loudspeakers over the years, but with the BP7000SC I have ceased to be enamored with the capabilities and qualities of the speaker and simply enjoy the musical presentation. I feel somewhat guilty
that I paid only $5,000.00 for this high-end product.
I would suggest to others who may not have auditioned the Definitive line of fantastic transducers to do themselves a favor and do so!! Do not be afraid to compare them the most highly regarded products on the market, trust me I have!
“You
want to hear high-end, quality, clear, non distortion
speakers at the highest volume ... try these.”
I've owned Definitive Technology speakers
for about 2 yrs. now and I haven't found a better sounding
speaker yet and I've tried a lot. While I was going into
my local dealer to buy another pair of Mirages it came
to my attention that they discontinued carrying them. That's
when I purchased my first pair of Def Tech's the C/L/R
2300s and I fell in love with them right away. That's
when I heard the Def Tech's hooked up to a Denon AVR-3802
which I had owned at the time and couldn't believe the
striking definition and clarity they had. I then bought
a Denon AVR-3806 and a pair of BP7002s
and used the 2300's as my rears and one as my center channel.
Now I was amazed! That's when I went crazy and bought the
C/L/R 2500 as my center to match the 7002s, sounded perfect.
I had also bought a pair of ProSub 100TL subwoofers and
put hem in the rear they were kickin' with the most perfectly
noted LFE response I had ever heard. I sold the 2300s
to my sister who thinks they're the best speaker she had
ever heard. She also has my old Denon AVR-3802 which matches
well with Def Tech's.
I then bought for my rear surrounds the BP7006s
and a pair of Super Cubes II's for in front. You want to
hear high-end, quality, clear, non distortion speakers
at the highest volume try these. The Denon AVR-3806 has
120w per ch. which is not enough power for the Definitive
Technology speakers. They hunger for more power and the
more power you throw at them the better they sound and
are clearer which is most amazing. I decided to purchase
a Denon POA-2400A amp @200w per channel to run my BP7002s
and recently purchased ProCinema 800 Monitors since that
amp has an A/B on it. The 800s brought out some major definition
combined with the 7002s. I thought I was there! I also bought 2 Adcom
GFA-555's 200w per Channel amplifiers. One to run my C/L/R 2500 and recently
purchased ProCenter 100 MK II and the other Adcom amp to run my rears(BP7006s).
My Denon AVR-3806 has the AL24 Processor which is all that
receiver is used for now is a pre/pro/tuner and it sounds so distinct
with no screaming highs, quite perfect. I now hear it like it
is supposed to be. The mids are so smooth and talk about
definition and smoothness? I just bought a Denon 2930CI
universal disc player. It also has the AL24 Processor so,
when I'm listening to discs or watching I've got the processor
twice. Which means no degradation. The Denon amp and the Adcoms are a
perfect match for the Definitive Technology speaker line and I have auditioned
a quite a few. It's great with 200w per ch. I can still
turn up my Def Techs all the way and they are still as clear as a bell.
If you want a great speaker with built in subs plus you can add extra
subs to your system and it just fills up the room like you are dead right
in the middle. Actually with enough power you might put the whole neighborhood
in the middle of the sound but, don't worry they'll love the sound too.
“The
BP10Bs sounded awesome and these [BP7002s] WOW!!!”
I have had a pair of BP10Bs
for about nine months now. I went to a local Hi Fi shop
today to listen to the BP7002s, just to see what they were
like. Definitive makes the most amazing speakers on earth!!
I can't believe what these sound like. The BP10Bs sounded
awesome and these WOW!!! Now if my wife doesn't send me
divorce papers when she sees that I purchased these, I
will be in awe for a long time to come. If you come out
with something that beats these, I'll need a place to live
and set them up! Thanks for the producing the BEST speakers
at an affordable price.
“The powered subs create a
presence that brings the soul of the artist right into
the room”
Whether it's classical, rock, jazz
or anything in between, the BP7000SCs reproduce sound the
way a speaker should. The crossover frequencies seem to
generate the maximum fidelity from each individual speaker
inside the cabinet. The powered subs create a presence
that brings the soul of the artist right into the room.
Invite your friends over and ask them to bring their favorite
CD. Watch how they react when, for the first time, they
hear subtle sounds they never knew existed before. Go shop
... but don't buy until you listen to the BP7000SCs.
“I was amazed at the inner detail and the enormous
soundstage. They play loud, clear, and with
unmatched visceral impact!”
I was intrigued by the Sound and Vision review of the BP7001SC last summer.
I wanted to enter the realm of multi-channel listening, but I wanted to
maintain the clarity and detail of two channel. I had already purchased the
BPVX/Ps from Listening Post and was immensely pleased with their performance;
so much so that I wanted to add the BP7001SC to further augment the system.
I anxiously awaited the arrival of the new SuperTowers to our area so I
could audition them.
I took a few CDs and DVDs to Stereo Land in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania,
where George was gracious enough to allow an in-depth audition. After a few
minutes, it was apparent the BP7001SCs were something truly magical!
I was amazed at the inner detail of music and the enormous soundstage I heard.
I had listened to the BP2000s and the BP3000s, thinking these speakers were the
last word in power and grace, but the BP7001SCs set a new standard for detail
and midrange/bass integration. I purchased them after the audition.
When listening to jazz, the BP7001SCs present the instruments' true timbre
and location on the stage. It is amazing how much bass was missing from
my previous system, even with an excellent sub! Maybe it is the superb integration
of the midrange and bass that has given music I am quite familiar with a
cleaner, richer sound. The BP7001SCs, when used in a Home Theater application,
are truly amazing! They play loud, clear, and with unmatched visceral impact!
The Definitive Technology BP7001SCs are the standard by which all Home Theaters
should be measured.
My system consists of the Sunfire Theater Grand II/Cinema Grand combination,
the BP7001SC Main speakers, the C/L/R 3000 Center Channel, and the BPVX/P Rears.
If you do not have Definitive Technology speakers you have "surround sound";
if you have them, you truly have "Home Theater"!
“The
sound nearly makes a grown man weep with joy....
I am at the top of Def Tech Mountain, and it sounds
heavenly!”
Let me take a few minutes to write of my "journey to the top of Def Tech Mountain"!
It all started about 2 years ago when a friend of mine from another state made
me such a deal/offer on a complete Def Tech system, that I had no choice but
to buy it, just to see what it sounded like...
Here is what the system consisted of: BP30 fronts, CLR2500 center, BPX rears,
and BP2006TLs that I would use in my drum room, as my Rotel gear didn't do
"rear center." I hauled it all home (at 90 mph), hooked it up, and right away,
within 3 minutes of the first DVD, I knew that I would never have another
center channel without a built in powered woofer! The step-up was jaw-dropping
unbelievable! This is the SINGLE best step for anyone to take.
With the BP30s up front, the sound stage became huge, as in: "close your
eyes and it's a wall of sound," not two speakers playing. The BPX Rears
did the same thing.
The BP2006TLs went to the drum room. And because I loved the sound with
the built-in amp, I took a step up the Def Tech Mountain and went and bought
another used pair to replace the BPXs in the theater room set-up. Oh man!
Putting rear speaks back there with powered woofs opened up yet another
world of sound from the rear!
I now had to have 7.1, so I bought the Sunfire Ultimate
Receiver and moved the other pair of BP2006TLs into the theater room.
My dealer took in a pair of used BP2000TLs and made
me an offer I had to take. I sold the BP30s for MORE than I paid and
took yet another step up the mountain. Going from BP30s to BP2000TLs
is like going from a Cavalier to a Camaro. Bigger sound stage and PHENOMENAL
BASS. Well, I might as well buy a NEW CLR 3000 and sell the used 2500,
so I did.
I placed my order for the new BP7001SCs. Sold the used BP2000TLs on eBay,
AGAIN for more than I paid, and picked up the 7001s. That was night and
day difference from the BP2000TLs. I thought I was now at the top of Def
Tech Mountain, but wait... if the 7001s sounded that much better than the 2000s,
why not replace all my BP2006TLs with brand new BP7004s? I took the step
and placed the order! I am at the TOP O' THE DEF TECH MOUNTAIN, right? NO!
To be at the top, I had to sell the new 7001s and get the BP7000SCs, just
to put my mind at ease that I had the best Def Tech speaks available up front.
So I sold mine and placed the order. Picked them up, hooked them up and sat
back and smiled. I could probably sell the 7004 rears and rear centers and
upgrade them, but why? I am as close to the top as I need to be.
The sound nearly makes a grown man weep with joy. Close your eyes and listen
to every instrument playing, watch the DVD of your choice and FEEL the guns,
cannon firing, etc. Having a powered sub in every channel is what THX does and
recommends. So, if you haven't heard this system at your dealers, stop by my
place for an in-home demo!
I have owned 5 systems since 1995, and this one BLOWS ALL OTHERS AWAY! For me,
I AM at the top of Def Tech Mountain! And it sounds almost heavenly!
“These
speakers, in my opinion, have one very strong point
which makes them unique ... the crossover point
between the subwoofer and the rest of the lower end of
the sound spectrum. It is perfect!”
I have just taken delivery of a pair of Def Tech BP7000SC speakers and have
integrated them into my Home Theater system (Marantz DV 8300 CD/DVD/SACD/DVD
Audio player, Adcom GTP 830 Pre/pro. feeding a Cinepro 3K6 power amp; this is
a six channel power amp, but I have it configured to run in the "bridged"
mode giving the front three channels 700 Watts per channel! The rear [surround]
speakers are driven by a Yamaha MX-1000U power amp, 250 Watts per channel;
my center channel speaker is a Def Tech C/L/R/3000; my surrounds are now Def
Tech 2006s, which used to be my left/right/front speakers until the arrival
of the BP7000SC speakers; my subwoofer was a Bag-End ELF 1800... My display is
a Toshiba 65HX93 HD). I listen mainly to classical music and action movies,
and I like it loud.
The BP7000SC reproduces EVERYTHING as near to perfect as I could hope for.
The strings sound like strings, flutes sound like flutes, bass drums sound like
bass drums, organs sound like organs, etc. These speakers, in my opinion,
have one very strong point which makes them unique to any other speaker or
subwoofer I have heard (and I have heard a lot) and that is the crossover
point between the subwoofer and the rest of the lower end of the sound spectrum:
it is perfect!
ALL other subwoofers that I have heard or owned have had the flaw of producing
"noise" when they weren't supposed to. This is most often and very irritatingly
heard in the double-bass strings of a symphony orchestra. It makes them sound
"muddy." Not so with the BP7000SC. My favorite "showpiece" is the cannon shots
in GODS AND GENERALS, during the battle at Manassas Junction sequence. WOW!
I think these speakers are well worth the money. I can't imagine anyone not
liking them.
