For the past year I have been living with a pair of B&W 705 speakers
as my front speakers in an all B&W system. I was always amazed at the
clarity and detail that came out of them. The one area I
hoped for a little more out them, though, was bass. They have a tight, fast,
highly accurate bass
sound, but I always was left feeling like I wanted more.
The problem was that I felt that if I wanted speakers with more bass I would
have to either sacrifice the clarity and detail that I had become accustomed
to or buy much more expensive and, of course, larger speakers.
All my problems were solved when I auditioned the PowerMonitor
500s. I could not believe that speakers so small (as I need living
in an apartment) could put out such highly detailed, clean, powerful, FULL-RANGE
sound. I still hear every ounce of detail and clarity that I had become
accustomed to in my music, but now the sound has a power and impact that
is absolutely
amazing coming from such compact speakers. I find myself
going back through my CD collection to listen to music I've heard hundreds
of times, and every time it puts a smile on my face (I've even laughed out
loud a couple of times).
Now for the best part. The PowerMonitor 500s cost HALF of
what I paid for my B&Ws. It's the best money I've ever spent on my system.
If you're looking for a pair of smaller speakers with truly full-range
sound, you NEED to go out and give these a listen. You too will be amazed
at what you hear.
