Legendary Mythos® Performance for Flat Panel TVs
The widely imitated Mythos Series literally redefined the concept of floor-standing loudspeaker from big dark box to thin and sexy gleaming showoff when it was introduced. It is the perfect floor-standing complement to your wall mounted or table mounted flat screen television.
These tower loudspeakers combine the elegant look of curved, hand-polished aircraft-grade Aluminum with state-of-the-art engineering technology that delivers the classic level of Definitive Technology sound quality: wide, dynamic soundstage, pinpoint imaging, and superb realism. Packed into these thin towers are proprietary damping technologies that ensure total rigidity, D'Appolito Driver Arrays in narrow PolyStone baffles (voice-matched with whole Mythos line for easy mix-and-match system building), Definitive's exclusive Planar Technology Pressure Driven Bass Radiators to enhance low frequency response, and sophisticated Linkwitz-Riley Crossover Networks to more perfectly blend the drivers into a sonically seamless audio environment.
Mythos Four Tower Loudspeakers rise dramatically from Tempered Glass Bases that include carpet spikes and rubber feet for stability on any type of floor surface. Nothing complements your new high definition flat screen television with more style, versatility and sheer performance than the beautiful Mythos Series models.
Superior Quality Components
Each Mythos Four contains a D'Appolito array consisting of two high-definition 4-1/2 inch midrange drivers surrounding a 1 inch dome tweeter housed in a sealed enclosure. The drivers feature die cast Aluminum baskets, mono-polymer cones and Finite Element Analysis optimized magnet structures for clear low distortion life-like sound. The drivers are pressure-coupled to two 4-1/2 inch planar Low-Bass Radiators for a total bass radiating surface greater than that of a single 8 inch conventional woofer. The result is exceptional bass extension and power not normally found in slim on-wall loudspeakers. The bass roll-off of the Mythos Four is smooth and controlled, allowing it to seamlessly blend with a powered subwoofer, such as Definitive's SuperCubes, for audiophile-grade home theater power and precision.
The array's 1 inch Pure Aluminum dome tweeter produces extended highs that reveal nuance and shimmer without a trace of edginess.
Rock-Solid Enclosure
Mythos Series enclosures are hand-polished gloss Black aircraft-grade extruded aluminum with proprietary damping technologies that ensure total rigidity. All components are mounted on a resonance-free PolyStone baffle. These rock-solid construction technologies along with state-of-the-art drivers and tweeter serve to deliver classic Definitive Technology sound quality: wide soundstage, pinpoint imaging, high dynamic impact, and superb realism.
I purchased a set about four months ago and couldn't be more pleased! I mainly use them for movies and it makes them come alive! The quality of sound is amazing! They also play 2 channel music with precision! The elegant look DEFinitely helps out on the wife factor with the nice glass bases. I will admit at $1600 for a pair I was hesitant but once I heard the sound it was worth every penny!

After complaints of my wife about the size of my my good old (but huge) transmission lines I was in search for a cheap compromise. I finaly ended up in a small HiFi store in Den Helder (The Netherlands) where I found this brand "Definitive Tech" I was completely flabbergasted by the sound of these Mythos 4 combined with a Supercube II. Immediately bought myself a pair of these combined with the Supercube II and cannot wait to buy a complete surround set (still saving money for that) and it is worth every penny. It is very hard to believe that this set sounds better then a pair of huge transmission line cabinets. I would describe the sound as Crisp details and clear present mids though never screaming and an impressive punchy and precise bass. It gives me goosebumps over and over again. Me like!
