The powerful, high-definition drivers used in all our powered subwoofers were specifically engineered by Definitive for their task: to deliver rock-solid low distortion bass, reaching down to the lowest subsonic frequencies, with an outstanding quality of superior transient response unequaled in the world. The special ultra-stiff, low-mass cones (for super-fast transient response) are joined to specially formulated surrounds and long-throw voice coils and spiders. The incredibly rigid baskets are engineered to hold the massive magnet structures and large voice coils in absolute alignment. The high temperature voice coils are made of aluminum wound with triple insulated ultra-pure copper wire and baked in epoxy for power handling in excess of 750 watts.
Rock Solid Non-Resonant Cabinets Ensure Pure Low Distortion Response
The cabinet of a loudspeaker plays a large part in its sonic performance. Resonance and vibration can add unwanted distortion as well as drain away important energy from the system. Definitive's subwoofers utilize monocoque cabinets, which have been specifically engineered to be totally inert and vibration free, to ensure you of absolutely pure sonic reproduction. Monocoque means that the cabinet is of a unitized construction where all panels are permanently joined together into one solid structure. The cabinet walls themselves are high-density medite fused together by space-age polymer adhesives. The front and rear baffles are extra thick and the cabinets each incorporate multiple internal braces to ensure total solidity.
Completely Adjustable Electronic Crossovers Assure a Perfect Match to Your System and Room
The sophisticated low distortion electronic crossovers incorporated in all our powered subwoofers are a masterpiece of design and execution. They contain a complete range of hookups, circuitry and features which allow the subwoofers to be connected and perfectly blended with any system as well as adjusted for optimum performance in any room.
ProSub series subwoofers have continuously adjustable low pass filter controls which allow you to choose a roll-off of from 40 to 150 Hz for the high end of the subwoofer. This unique "dual stage" roll-off is extremely steep which ensures perfect blending with your main speakers as well as eliminating unwanted upper bass or midrange radiation from the subwoofer. This is especially important because it gives you much greater flexibility in placing your subwoofer in your room without being able to hear where it is specifically located. All our powered subwoofers also have a separate low-level direct LFE input for Dolby Digital which bypasses the crossover network. All models have a built-in speaker level high-pass crossover preset at 80 Hz (except ProSub 60 preset at 100Hz) and, of course, a precision level control allows you to perfectly adjust the volume of the subwoofer to match your system and room as well as to fulfill your own personal sonic preferences.
A Full Range of Inputs and Outputs Facilitates Easy Hookup of Your Definitive Subwoofer to Any System
All Definitive powered subwoofers have a complete range of inputs, outputs and features to allow easy and effective hookup to any system either singly or in a stereo pair. Both (high) speaker level and low-level inputs are provided in case you don't have a subwoofer output. In addition, all models have a separate direct-in LFE low-level input (which bypasses the crossover network) which may be used by itself or in combination with left and right channel high- or low-level inputs for the ultimate in subwoofer flexibility and performance.

"keeps me happy"
i have been a fan of deff tech subs and floor speakers since the mid 90's when d. t. had the 15" and 18" subs. the pro sub 10 has the same blood running through it. the pro sub 10 keeps me happy and my roomates mad!

Have been using a ProSub 800 with Studio Monitor 350s & CLR2002 -- for music was very good, but for movies wasn't getting the WOW factor that I had hoped for -- my living room is an acoustic challenge, with vaulted ceiling, open doorways, wide but not deep listening area -- knew that I needed to improve the sub output, and I bounced back & forth considering Supercubes, ProSubs, other brands but couldn't decide -- tossed my dilemma to Chet, along with a basic floorplan -- he very patiently answered my questions, and determined that I really needed a dual sub setup & not one more powerful model, because of the wide/high room -- I did a test run borrowing an old Velodyne 10-incher from the basement, worked well, and we eventually settled on adding a ProSub 1000 to the mix, ALONG WITH the ProSub 800 -- the improvement is awesome for the minor investment, solved the movie issue and actually improved music as a bonus, sounds like all new speakers! Best customer support I've seen in MANY years!

i currently own the Procinema 800 speaker system and it sounds fantastic! I purchased a prosub 1000 and added it to my speaker setup via a y-splitter. I have both subs flanking my TV cabinet with my front speakers on stands outside of the subs. After calibrating my Pioneer Elite receiver I now have very "even" "strong" bass throughout my theater room (12 x 19). This causes a stereo effect and has really elevated the quality of my bluray movie collection. I would recommend this combination to all procinema 800 owners.
"poweful, throbbing bass "
I recently reviewed my Sm 45s with a passing mention of my ProSub 1000. I feeel that the 1000 needs a review of its own, so here it is. I have played a violin and classic guitar in the past (rank amateur!), sang in a community choir, listened to quite a bit of live music, and developed a love of huge pipe organs in cathedral-sized settings. At home I listen mainly to classical, classic rock, folk, and some jazz/popular. I want my system to reproduce all this naturally, neither adding or subtracting anything audibly. The 1000 does this. It reproduces a 32' organ pipe realistically, including the physical feel of it, whether soft or loud, as needed. Ditto for deep, symphonic bass drums. It also naturally reproduces the sound of instruments - in jazz or folk recordings, one can hear the difference between a plucked string bass and a bass guitar. In classical, one can hear the natural timbre of the instruments. This is clean, not muddy, bass. And it is not lacking in power when called for. It can be soft and subtle when called for, yet it can fill my mid-sized room with poweful, throbbing bass at very deep frequencies and loud levels combined. Needless to say, it is also fantastic for movies too, having all the power needed, and then some. Combined with my SM45s, I could not be happier. Period. Thank you DefTech for allowing me to have Dom Perignon sound at a budget price.
"a powerful sub that will take over a room"
I bought this ProSub 1000 to compliment a set of BP 7006's in the front. I figured this 10" in the back of the room would sound good with these 8"'s up front. Geez, I was right. This is a powerful sub that will take over a room all the way up. Played with it for awhile and broke a few dishes. Now I got the sound I want.
