The remarkable UIW BPZ/A is a bipolar in-wall/in-ceiling loudspeaker. It is intended for use as a main system speaker (whose bipolar pattern gives you tremendously enhanced spaciousness plus unequaled dispersion throughout your room). In addition, it is a superb rear/side surround speaker for Dolby Digital and Dolby ProLogic systems and is also perfect for producing exceptional sounding music anywhere you want it. Creative design has resulted in a compact unit with a grille which is almost flush with the wall. A complex Linkwitz-Riley crossover seamlessly blends two 61/2" cast basket drivers with two 1" pure aluminum dome tweeters for superb dynamic range and exceptional sonic performance.
Easy-to-Install
One hole, no mess. Precision templates are included to make cutting the right size hole a breeze even for weekend warrior DIY. Locking arm mounting system grabs your wall with high tension clamps at the turn of a screw, stiffening the baffle and eliminating resonance (Rough-In Kits for new construction are available, too.) UIW BPZ/As are easy to paint so they virtually disappear into your room, and moisture-resistant for kitchen and even bathroom installations.
Pure Aluminum Dome Tweeters
Exclusive magnetic fluid-cooled moving-coil tweeter dome of Pure Aluminum brings together the performance advantages of metal domes (greater clarity) and soft domes (smoother sound and better dampening) in one state-of-the-art tweeter design, for detail, clarity and accurate imaging.
High-Definition Cast-Basket Bass/Midrange Drivers
Aerodynamically designed, magnetically inert, non-resonant cast baskets minimize reflections of the sound radiating from the back of the cones and preserve structural and magnetic integrity for significant performance advantages in the areas of bass reproduction, lifelike midrange clarity and dynamic range.
Rigid Non-Resonant Glass-Filled Low Profile Frames
Molded of a glass-filled polymer compound to eliminate baffle resonance, the UIW BPZ/A's frame maintains sonic purity by defeating diffraction, giving it a wide, dynamic sound stage with minimized resonance or coloration.
"the best in-walls money can buy..."
I bought 3 pair of these fabulous speakers to run as main L/R, center channel and surrounds. Believe it or not, these are hands down the best in-walls money can buy. It took about 90 minutes from marking the spots on my walls to sound check. Very easy to install. They are being driven by a Monster Reference 5150 amplifier and Integra DTC 9.8 pre/amp. These speakers blend perfectly with the SuperCube 1 giving a sound field that totally immerses you in breath- taking sound that you not only hear, but feel. I will not purchase any other brand speaker for my home. Definitive Technology are simply THE best sounding speakers on earth.

Simply AMAZING! I am using the uiw-bpza for my surrounds. They are installed in my ceiling just behind my lisening postion. My mains are monster polk rti 12's with matching csi5 center. I am using a denon avr-5800 running 170wpc and these little guys take it all and keep up nicley...even in 5 channel stereo mode. If anything I would say they are probably a little power hungry, but if you got the power they will reward you with crystal clear mids, detailed highs...and even some clean bass in the 100hz and up range. Worth every penny...I'll take 2 for every room in my house please!!!

"I never knew inwall speakers could sound so good."
I hate big speakers clogging my living room so I bought those surround cuties and installed them myself. They are perfect as Left, right, center and surrounds; you hear the beautiful [sound] but no one but you knows where it comes from. It's a woman's dream. I never knew inwall speakers could sound so good. I don't even need a seperate bass unit. Thank you.
